Description
i...had a desire to draw aiori in a glass...bc i love the idea of smol anime girl in a cup/glass/jar, etc.....and then i also really wanted to draw chocolate (i hope you can tell the golden round things are quite blatantly based off of ferrero rocher) somewhere along the way i wanted to add a touch of new year's setting, but it turned kind of ...morbid since i chose to add a rooster, but his skeleton lol
in japan, it's a custom for families/households to send out nengajou (aka new year's greeting cards)....and so i thought maybe it'd be funny if aiori decided to send her friends/acquaintances skeletons of dead roosters instead this year, as 2017 is 酉年/year of rooster (i added in the feathers just for aesthetic)//// it's her way of giving you a dose of memento mori...or perhaps it's akin to the custom of old style gangsters sending dead animals to their future targets
--> i kind of chose to do a parody of a nengajou, hence why there is the kanji 謹賀新年 ("happy new year") on the omamori/charm looking thing in the back - that specific phrase is typically written on new year cards
i also hope it's rather obvious that the cat aiori is holding is actually tatsuya,,,,,,though i guess in this forme, as a cat, i like to call him tatsu(nya) c: the scratches on aiori's arms & legs are presumably from him.....but overall the entire image is supposed to be somewhat surreal & morbid but,....dream-like? the entire scenario is probably something from one of aiori's morphine/pain-killer induced dreams (which admittedly are more pleasant than her normal dreams, which are essentially nightmares but...)
i wanted to convey the surrealism through the sumi-e/brushpainting style outlines, but i guess it turned out not that great since i'm not satisfied with the result...it doesn't look quite as smooth and elegant as normal japanese calligraphy & paintings do
but anyways, my ranting aside, i wanted to wish everyone a happy new year once more, and i hope that 2017 will be a blessed year for you & all your personal goals/dreams/etc., whatever you are pursuing ~
